Mechanic became WAG. Aboard Beechcraft HB100, plane and crew were lost on their way from Lethbridge to Patricia Bay, BC during poor weather.

Ernest Sowerby, born in Newcastle on Tyne, England, was the son of Alfred Ernest Soweby and Hannah (nee Sowerby) of Langley, British Columbia. He was a car mechanic prior to enlisting with the RCAF where he became a WAG.

Aboard Beechcraft HB100 travelling from Rockcliffe to Patricia Bay via Winnipeg and Lethbridge, the crew of four were lost over the mountains east of Vancouver: Pilot, P/O Harry Donkersley, Navigator S/L James Flaherty, passenger S/L Terence Pringle, (RAFVR), and WAG P/O Ernest Sowerby.
